Celie's 50th Birthday Party

As Celie is now 50 we celebrated her birthday at the Lakeland VW Classic. We had cake and bubbly to share with friends. She also got 2nd place in her class. Calvin got 1st in his plus Best Interior and Best Of Show. A great time was had by all except for some sunburn.

Bug Jam 07

Calvin got 1st in Custom Bus pre 67 for the third year in a row! It was the toughest competition this year.

Roof rack

As usual the quality of goods is poor. The rack is only a couple of years old and has hardly been expose much to the elements. It's looking like new now.

I re did the roof rack on Calvin. Here's a picture of him without it on.

SAVWA

Just before we got here we hit a bump on Lockwood Ridge. Vicky was following and said there were sparks flying out from under Calvin. Liam looks like he's ready to do a Jackass stunt with the trolley.

Deveraux-Kaiser Show, Sarasota, 2007

It wouldn't matter how high your bumpers were if this thing hit you. This day was freezing cold. All I had on was shorts and a t-shirt. I guess the show normally has 1200 cars and they say there were only 800 this year. I doubt there was even that many.

Dover Bugs in the Field

Hans, Topnotch and friends put on a show in Dover, FL. Pretty laid back day but it was hot. Took Calvin out which was a risky affair getting himn in and out of the field. Luckily it didn't rain until on the way back.

Built 2 Rail

Did a photo shoot for Built2Rail magazine. It was a cloudy day, but the photographer said she liked it better that way. Since then the brake drum stripped, we broke down on Busses over the Skyway, Elvis' engine blew up and Celie had brake issues. All is now ok. Elvis' engine goes back in tomorrrow.

Show Winners

Calvin won Best Custom Bus pre '68 and Best Of Show. Celie got Best Convertible Bug. I received an email from a guy in Germany that has a registery of Kabrioletts. I have registered Celie.

Lakeland VW Classic

We decided to check out the new Lakeland VW Classic show. They did a great job. The organizers must have some experience because it was all very professional, yet the atmosphere was relaxed. We cruised up with Gerry, Jet and Bill, and Ted and Amber. Vicky and Liam drove Celie with the hood up and the heated on. Alex and I froze in Calvin. We had lots of layers on, but I should have taken gloves. At the end of the day though I ended up with sunburn. Duh!

Gamble Mansion Show

The Original Manatee Classic Cruisers wanted us for a photo shoot to put the picture on a dashplaque for the show. We couldn't go to the show itself as it was the same day as Bulli Brigade.

People's Choice

Calvin got best custom bus pre '68 and People's Choice at this years Florida Bug Jam. Callie got second again in custom convertibles ghia. Hey check out Helen's cool shades. I bought them for me, but she half hinched them. We had a great weekend and of course met a lot of nice people. The best story was a guy from Miami who had had his 23 window Samba stolen 20 years ago got a call that it had been found in California and if he wanted it back he would have to pay the tranport fee. He would have paid to bring back a junked 23 window, but when they sent him pictures it had been fully restored. Wow!
